My 13 year old son, already diagnosed with severe allergies to milk protein, egg protein and nut proteins, all of which he avoids completely, started to develop occasional but significant indigestion with food impaction and regurgitation. His doctor put him on Nexium and after only 2 doses he had a severe anaphylactic reaction after consuming white fish and calamari (both of which he has eaten hundreds of times previously). Skin prick testing has since shown that he is now sensitized to both fish and calamari. I absolutely believe that the Nexium's effect on digestion caused this sensitization. I think there should be warnings flagging the dangers of using Nexium in food-allergic patients.
